With a Alternative Wellness practice which focuses on pain and inflammation, it was unclear whether people seeking Marijuana as an alternative method would pursue recreational marijuana instead of medical marijuana in Illinois starting in January 2020.
If December and January are any indication, instead people are increasingly pursuing their Medical Marijuana Cards as we have seen a growth in the number of patients in our Barrington and Chicago offices seeking their Illinois Medical Marijuana Card with our physicians.
People are choosing Medical Marijuana over Recreational Marijuana for the following reasons
1. They aren't doing it to get high, but to help a medical condition
2. They don't want to wait in a long line to get their product
3. They don't want to pay up to 45% in taxes to the state
4. They don't want to loose their job for doing federally illegal drugs
Of course nothing has changed in our practice. Our staff supports patients through the process from answering all of their questions about the process, discussing different types and ways to take medical marijuana.
Whether patients are coming from all areas within Chicago from Wicker Park, Fulton, River North to our 641 W Grande Ave Chicago location or the Northwest suburbs of Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Palatine, or further north from McHenry, Crystal Lake, Cary, Algonquin, or even Woodstock to our 18 E Dundee Rd Barrington Location they are doing so to keep a Medical Marijuana option that will better server their healing journey.
